REX, Cubacar, Havanautos or Daiquirí Tours: which one is best?

In Cuba you rent cars from official rental companies. At Easy Travel we work with REX, Cubacar, Havanautos and Daiquirí Tours. They aren't the same: models, prices and the rules for returning the car in another province all differ.

Summary

REX: premium cars and free return in another province

REX has the highest-end fleet: Hyundai Elantra, Shine Max, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mercedes Benz C200, Mercedes Benz E200 and Maxus G10. Its big advantage is that you can return the car in another province at no extra cost, ideal for crossing the island end to end (for example, picking up in Havana and returning in Holguín or Santiago) without driving back.

Cubacar and Havanautos: the most affordable

They have the cheapest cars (Hyundai Grand I10, Hyundai Accent, Dongfeng Rich 6 4x4, Dongfeng Nammi 01, Kia Picanto, Dongfeng Aeolus Yixuan and Hyundai Cantus), perfect if you'll stay in one area. You can return the car in another province, but a drop-off fee is paid at the rental office at pickup, depending on the province. For most of them the car category is guaranteed, not the exact model.

Daiquirí Tours: an SUV at a good price

It offers the Bestune T90, an automatic SUV at a mid-size car price. It includes 250 km per day (added up over the rental) and can be returned at another of its offices for a fixed fee shown when you book.

Which one is right for me?

• If you want the lowest price and will stay in one area: Cubacar or Havanautos.
• If you'll travel across the island and return the car in another province: REX.
• If you're traveling in a large group (up to 9 people): the REX Maxus G10.
• If you want an automatic SUV without paying a luxury price: the Daiquirí Tours Bestune T90.
